Home - The Chesapeake Paddlers Association, Inc.

The CPA offers many diversified activities and benefits providing a way for people to safely enjoy sea kayaking within the Chesapeake Bay region.

The Chesapeake Paddlers Association is a volunteer organization, and the people who volunteer the most are the elected officers: The Coordinator, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, and the Steering Committee members. Now is the time to tell us who you think should play an active part in steering the club’s activities. This year, in addition to balloting at the Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 2. Nominate someone who you think will help play an active role over the next year...

ATTENTION all paddlers who enjoy the South River! Effective NOW- the Pirates will be starting a new tradition of kayak- roving to new launches within the County and to try out new creeks and coves along the Bay. Our new launches are part of the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation & Parks string of new pocket parks- check out the locations: http://www.aacounty.org/RecParks/launch/index.cfm#Sites. These sites have car-top launches and give basic and decent access to the water...
We have new CPA trip waivers. All participants in CPA sponsored on-water trips and events must sign a legal release form. Trip & event leaders are responsible for collecting signed releases & for returning them to the Club Secretary. Failure to collect, save & forward these waivers may invalidate trip leader coverage under our liability policy.
The CPA has a dedicated space for paddlers seeking or selling gear.
Mix and mingle with fellow paddlers. Talk about kayaking events, paddling trips, gear, and much, much more.

August_September: Privilege and Responsibility

The dog days of August (named by the Romans for the bright star Sirius in the constellation Canis Major) and September’s sweet song are often hot, sultry and lazy days, perfect for the paddler’s avocation. This year, the weather has has been cooler, but much happened in August to expand our privileges on the water.  According to the club calendar,  September is not only the month to return to school, but the time for nominations for CPA officers, so  I want to challenge you to think about your responsibilities to our club.
