Florida Suwannee River Wilderness Trail is a system of public and private recreation and visitor facilities focused on paddling the Suwannee River from White Springs to the coastal town of Suwannee.
Great place to stay,motel right on a channel.A mile paddle to San Carlos Bay,and a 2 mile paddle across, to Sanibel Island, and Ding Darling Wildlife refuge/ access the Great Calusa Blue Way.The managers Ellie and George, couldn't be nicer,and more accommodating, the price is more then right.There are manatees outside your door several dolphin pods, in the bay.I cant believe,there aren't more paddlers down there.Check it out!

The jellyfish often encountered in the Chesapeake Bay in the summer is the sea nettle Chrysaora quinquecirrha. Knowing where and when to expect this biotic nuisance may help to alleviate an unpleasant encounter. These near-real-time maps of sea nettle distribution are experimental products.

A small (& growing!) club of Traditional Style (a.k.a. Greenland) paddlers. It is officially recognized by Qaannat Kattuffiat (The Greenland Kayaking Association). They have a spectacular Greenland training & social event every fall. A must attend event!

Safety : Hypothermia and Cold Water
Accurate information on cold water safety is vital to anyone venturing onto cold water, whether their sport is canoeing, kayaking, sailing, fishing, hunting, paddle boarding, board sailing, surfing, open water swimming, scuba diving, rowing, surf skiing, or motor boating. It is also mission-critical for risk management, occupational safety, emergency management, search and rescue, and any commercial or military operations in which immersion in cold water is a possibility.
The National Center for Cold Water Safety was established to reduce the incidence of close calls, injuries, and fatalities due to cold water immersion. The Center is in a unique position to accomplish this goal because its sole mission is the study and promotion of cold water safety.
Always a good read for beginning and full time kayakers. Chuck has been a long time member of the CPA and a founder of the ACA as we know it today. He has lots of knowledge to spread around. We should accept his offerings.
