Pirates of ALGONKIAN
Upper Potomac
Group of dedicated paddlers from VA and MD meet every Wednesday evening from 6 to sunset to paddle along the upper Potomac and the various Northern Virginia Regional Parks. Our primary launch points will be Algonkian Regional Park and Fountainhead Regional Park. Other occasional launch sites will include Bull Run Marina, Occoquan Regional Park, Pohick Bay Regional Park … and maybe even Mason Neck. - Algonkian Regional Park in Sterling, Virginia:
From the Beltway (I-495), take Route 7 west 11 miles to Cascades Parkway north, and drive 3 miles to the park entrance. An alternate launch site for folks in Maryland will be Riley’s Lock in Potomac, Maryland.
- Fountainhead Regional Park:
To reach Fountainhead, take I-95 south of the Beltway, exit at Occoquan and travel north on Rt. 123 approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto Hampton Road and drive 3 miles to the entrance on the left.
Pirates of BALTIMORE
Baltimore & Essex, Maryland
Arrrggghhh - the roving Piracy! 1st Tuesday at Canton; 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at Rocky Point; 3rd Tuesday at Dundee Creek; and occasional 5th Tuesday at sites TBA. Meet at 5:30 p.m. for paddling and skills practice and to meet other paddlers. PFDs, sprayskirts, and a waterproof light required.

Canton Waterfront Park (3001 Boston St.):
From I-95S or I-895N (no exit from I-895S): Take the O'Donnell St. exit. Turn westbound onto O'Donnell St. (towards downtown). Cross bridge and turn left at light onto Conkling St. Turn right onto Boston St. Turn left onto S. East Ave. into the Canton Waterfront Park lot.
From I-95N: Take Boston St exit (Exit 57). Continue straight off ramp to O'Donnell St. Turn left, towards downtown, on ODonnell St. Continue as above. Alternate: You may exit directly from I-95N onto Boston St. Turn left, towards downtown, to the park. This route is more direct, but trains crossing the road often impede traffic.
From Downtown & the Inner Harbor: Take Pratt St. east past the Power Plant. Turn right at the light onto S. President St.; follow three blocks and turn left at the light onto Fleet St.; follow 0.8 miles and turn right at the light onto Boston St.; follow 1 mile and turn right on S. East Ave. into the Canton Waterfront Park Lot.
- Rocky Point Park:
Exit I-695 at Rt. 702 South (Exit 36), which merges with Back River Neck Rd.; 2.3 miles past the merge turn left on Barrison Point Rd.; turn right onto Rocky Point Rd. and follow to Rocky Point Park; meet at the ramps on the right, just inside the gate.
- Dundee Creek Marina, part of Gunpowder State park:
From I-95, take Route 43 east. This is the first exit north of I-695 (Baltimore beltway) on the north side of town (White Marsh).
Bear right at end of road (about a mile) onto Rt.40 east. (Pulaski Hwy)
Turn right at first traffic light - Ebeneezer Rd. (at Double-T Diner)
Follow Ebeneezer Rd. approx. 5 miles. The marina is on the right, just a short distance past the main park entrance, which is on the left. The launch area is on the right along the entrance road, behind some parking spaces, before you reach the main boat launch. There is a facility with restrooms.
Pirates of GEORGETOWN
Washington, DC
Meet Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm. We paddle away at 6:30 pm. We will meet EVERY week from daylight savings time in Spring Until our final Halloween Paddle Party in October, regardless of weather. Usually we plunder Georgetown to eat after paddling (and in place of paddling if the weather is bad). If you don't have a kayak, you can rent one onsite. Solomons Island, Maryland

Where: Take Rt 2 south to Solomons. There's a sandy beach and free parking on the right, just north of the boardwalk across from Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.
Pirates of PIER 7
Annapolis, Maryland
Wednesday evenings. Plan to arrive between 5 and 6 pm and meet with others to paddle. Other activities include rolling and rescue practice, boat fitting, BBQ's, and socializing.

Where: From DC, take US-50 toward Annapolis. Exit onto MD-665. Exit onto MD-2 southbound. Continue on MD-2 south over the South River. Take the first left after crossing the bridge. Follow the road to Pier 7 Marina. Look for kayaks at the bottom of the hill.

Pirates of POTOMAC
Belle Haven Marina, Alexandria, Virginia
Wednesday evenings at 5 pm. $3 launching fee; seasonal passes $45. If inclement weather, can call Belle Haven Marina after 3:30 pm (703-758-0018) to verify if launch cancelled.

Where: From Alexandria, VA, take the George Washington Memorial Parkway 1.3 miles south of the Beltway, then left and straight into Belle Haven Marina.
Pirates of SUGARLOAF
Black Hill Regional Park, Germantown, MD
Primary launch site is Black Hill Regional Park, unless otherwise posted in advance on the Pirates of Sugarloaf Forum. $5.00 daily launch fee / $55 season pass at Visitors Center.
Other alternate launch sites may include Seneca State Park, Piney Run Park, Tridelphia Reservoir or other waters in Upper Montgomery, Frederick, Carroll and Western Howard counties as may be suggested by and of interest to paddlers.

I-270, exit onto Route 27 East (Father Hurley Boulevard), left onto Route 355 North (Frederick Road), Left on West Old Baltimore Road. Follow signs approx. 4 miles to left into Park then first boat ramp on the right. Check Pirates of Sugarloaf Forum for plans and directions for possible alternate launchings.
